Another excellent season of AGL Loy Yang North Gippsland football and netball was celebrated in style at the annual Grand Final Dinner.
Guest speaker Steph Chiocci offered a fascinating into the world female footy, the establishment and potential of the AFL Women’s competition and elite football in general.
A host of club awards were given out, while two new members were inducted into the NGFNL Hall of Fame in Noel ‘Snowy’ Snow and Peter ‘Lizard’ O’Neill – you can read their stories on the Hall of Fame page of the website.
There were also several special presentations made on the night.
AGL Loy Yang, Latrobe Regional Hospital, Glengarry FNC and TTU FNC were presented with framed jumpers to acknowledge their involvement in the inaugural Gippsland Pride Cup match, played at Glengarry in July.
Sale Umpires Association’s Ray Williams was recognised for officiating his 900th game in season 2017 and champion administrator Gordon Bayley received a special thankyou and farewell following the announcement of his decision to step down from the NGFNL board after 23 years.
Bayley was given a standing ovation for his dedicated and passionate service.
The other big news from the night came earlier on, when AGL Loy Yang general manager Steve Rieniets announced a two-year extension of the energy provider’s major partnership with the NGFNL.
