Sale City will unfurl its senior football and A grade netball premiership flags in the opening round of the 2018 AGL Loy Yang North Gippsland Football Netball League season.
The Bulldogs recorded an historic premiership double last season and will begin their title defence when Heyfield visits Stephenson Park in the second week of the split opening round on Saturday, 7 April, with Cowwarr and Glengarry hosting Gormandale and Traralgon-Tyers United.
The action commences one week earlier on Good Friday, when Yarram and Woodside kick off the campaign at home to Churchill and Rosedale respectively.
Other highlights of the home-and-away fixture include a Queen’s Birthday clash between Churchill and Yarram on Monday, 11 June, and grand final rematches between Sale City and Woodside in round five Sale City and Yarram in round seven.
Meanwhile, Cameron Mayne has joined the NGFNL board for 2018.
Since joining Rosedale Football Club as an assistant coach in 1994, Mayne has served in a variety of roles, including president as recently as 2016, and was looking forward to a “different challenge”.
“It’s easy to get stuck in your own mindset in club land so hopefully I can take things back from my experiences of being on the board to the club and offer a different perspective on things,” Mayne said.
“It’s a good board and it will be a learning curve but hopefully I can bring some fresh ideas to the table.”
Mayne said he was passionate about further bridging the gap between clubs and umpires, as well as developing the thirds competition.
He fills the vacancy left by Gordon Bayley, who stepped down after 24 years of service, in the only change to the board at the league’s recent annual general meeting.Click Here to Download the 2018 AGL Loy Yang NGFNL Season Fixture
